THIS WEEK IN MUSIC: 20/11/14

Everything pales in comparison

  • One Direction – Four
All I have to say is that when your dad points out that their sound has really matured, you gotta take it seriously. He also asked for me to start the CD over once it had run through once. As an avid fan, it’s hard to notice changes because I’m listening to all of their albums all of the time, but an outsider can spot it.
Must hear: 18, Where Do Broken Hearts Go, Act My Age
  • 5 Seconds of Summer – Good Girls EP
This includes one previously unreleased song called Just Saying and while it doesn’t have the best message, it’s pretty catchy. The frog drinking tea meme fits it to a T.
  • Chad Sugg – Somewhere Far From Now
How perfect that this wintery album came out on the week we got our first snowfall. Chad is one of those artists that is quite simple, just a bit of guitar and piano but it’s really the lyrics that add depth to the songs.
Must hear: November and Everything After, Digital Love, Defy
  • Paradise Fears – Who We Were With
Remember how unsatisfied I was with Action Item’s most recent release? This takes that direction, but actually does it in a way that I like. I don’t know how or why.
  • George Ezra – Blame It On Me
iTunes free single is one that I already know and love!

Shutting up about 1D for at least a little while now, promise.

  1. wwww is different from what paradise fears has written in the past. different but not in a bad way. part of me is terrified that the band that i have come to know and love will change now that they are signed. but change isn’t bad. it can be really, really good. so i hopefully await the release of their new album early next year. their lyrics have never let me down in the past.
